GEMSTONE Small Pyrite in Quartz Coffin Ring: Size 8
Approximate size: 8
This beveled, coffin-shaped pyrite in quartz cabochon is set with teeny-tiny stainless steel spheres. It sits on a double-link band.
Because of pyrite's metallic luster and normally pale brass-yellow hue, it is more well-known by its nickname fool's gold. Its name comes from the Greek pyritēs lithos which means "stone or mineral which strikes fire," because in ancient times it was discovered it could create sparks when struck against steel.
Quartz is the second most abundant mineral on Earth and it known for its strength as a mineral. The Ancient Greeks referred to quartz as krustallos, derived from the word kruos, meaning "icy cold," because some believed it to be a form of supercooled ice.
*Please note: the color of the stone may be slightly different in person due to photography/computer monitor/device screen color and lighting discrepancies.
